This woman's case caused quite some controversy in Brazil, the article she is pregnant after menopause and the age is already very vulnerable, namely 61 years.
Women who are married anonymity post-menopausal, with a man who was aged 38 years. Her husband wanted a child. This is what pushed him to do artificial insemination (IVF) with donor eggs. He did so in November 2010.
"I have been through menopause. My husband wanted to be a father, I also wanted to be a mother. I am in a very healthy and I have gained a clear medical license," said the woman who did not want to be named, as reported by Health24, Tuesday (27 / 9 / 2011).
The woman says no plans to tell his future that he was born with the help of donor eggs from another person to get pregnant.
The case of pregnancy in old age is not the first case ever occurred in Brazil. On 9 September 2011 and then, a 52-year-old woman managed to become the mother of infant twins first. Her husband even 88 years old.
Brazilian health officials are concerned with the many women who become pregnant in very old age, which can put enormous burdens on the body and endanger his own life.
Until now, there is no age limit to be able to perform artificial insemination. However, physicians should not allow patients to get pregnant if there is a large risk for both mother and child at birth.
