Jakarta, Giving Mother's Milk (ASI) exclusively during the first 6 months will soon have a strong legal protection. This is because the Draft Government Regulation (RPP) of breastfeeding will be legalized in the near future.
"Draft of attempted breastfeeding will be ratified in the near future, because the RPP is not too controversial, so going well," said Minister of Health Endang Rahayu Sedyaningsih, MPH, DrPH in the National Rally events Breastfeeding Counsellor to-1 in the building Kemenkes, Jakarta, Thursday ( 11/08/2011).
Minister of Health said it set the RPP and local government responsibilities in terms of promotion of infant formula and other products, set of exclusive breastfeeding during the first 6 months, a corner of milk in the workplace and public facilities as well as allowances for employees who are breastfeeding.
With the RPP was then feeding to the newborn until at least age 6 months getting legalized by law. And can protect and encourage mothers to breastfeed newborns, because breast milk is the only food necessary until baby is at least age 6 months or a maximum of 2 years.
Implementation of these provisions is already listed in the Health Law No. 36/2009, Article 128 paragraph (1) the contents 'Every baby is entitled to a Mother's Milk (ASI) Exclusive from birth for 6 months except on medical indication'.
Whereas in Article 128 paragraph (2) reads 'Any person who intentionally blocking program exclusive breast-feeding is sentenced up to one year imprisonment and a maximum fine of Rp 100 million'.
In addition there are three things that become the focus of the government in terms of nursing, namely:
1. Increasing breastfeeding promotion campaign through a program that involves all stakeholders including governments, private sector and communities.
2. Increasing the capacity of health facilities to be more effective in supporting and protecting mothers so they can successfully breastfeed their babies
3. Increasing the number of quality breastfeeding counselor and public facilities also provide a means for mothers to breastfeed
"Should couples be given counseling from pregnancy, such as some time ago when I inaugurated the lactation clinic at a private hospital, I see the enthusiasm of the couple whose husband participated in lactation counseling," said Menkes.
But the Minister aware that the problems that exist in the village may be different, not necessarily because the husband wanted menemai wife because they still think that it is women's work. Whereas in order to feed the program a success brings responsibilities of husband and wife.
