Jakarta, the man who wants to have children should avoid using products with chemicals such as those existing non-stick pans and pots. Studies prove that these chemicals can reduce male sperm count.
Non-stick products are manufactured with a chemical called perfluoroalkyl acid (PFAA acid or perfluoroalkyl), the two most common are perfluorooctanoate (PFOA) and perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS).
A new study published in Environmental Health Perspectives showed that non-stick chemicals can reduce male sperm count, so it would be difficult to have offspring.
In the study, Danish researchers analyzed semen samples from 105 men with an average age of 19 years to measure the presence of 10 PFAA chemicals, including PFOA and PFOS, and sperm quality.
These chemicals are found in all samples, but men with high levels of PFOS and PFOA have a sperm count half of the normal amount. That is, these chemicals can reduce sperm count by 50 percent, as reported by Rodale, Friday (09/30/2011).
Not only harmful to men, another study recently found that in women with the highest levels of chemicals in the blood will take longer to get pregnant.
The study also found that men are more susceptible to chemicals in the environment than women. In fact, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has found that men were more likely exposed to PFOA and PFOS levels than women.
However, there are several ways you can do to reduce exposure to chemicals from an Environmental, among others:
1. Selective use of non-stick products
This applies to the pan, pan, anti-stain sofa, even waterproof equipment on the camping gear and guitar strings. All these products are generally made with PFOA.
Wax paper that is often used in pizza boxes, fast food wrappers, and coatings used in popcorn bags, 20 percent also be exposed to PFOA.
A 2006 study in Canada to test fast food for residues of PFOA and found the highest concentrations found in egg sandwich, fries, chicken nuggets and fish burgers. Fast food also causes high blood sugar can also weaken the sperm.
2. Frequent sex
Australian researchers found that the sperm will become weaker if the men are too often sit and rarely have sex.
3. Sport
Exercising will not eliminate PFOS or PFOA from the body, but can increase sperm count. And exercise can also reduce stress, which is the enemy of fertility.
