Yogyakarta, Indonesia Ministry of Health targeting malaria-free gradually. Areas of Jakarta, Bali and some free targeted malaria Riau Islands in 2010-2011, whereas in 2015 targeted Java and Sumatra in 2020.
Outbreak of malaria in the village Hargotirto, Kulonprogo Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region of course make quite alarmed local health department. Recorded by 43 residents have been stricken with malaria since the beginning of January 2012.
Cases of malaria in Java as a whole actually has been greatly reduced since 2003. But the outbreak of malaria in Kulonprogo back a little worried about achieving the target of Indonesia are malaria free.
"There are several factors that can trigger an outbreak of malaria. Could be due to the import factor, meaning that there are immigrants who come into an area and spread malaria. But it could be due to environmental and lifestyle of residents who support the spread of malaria," said Director General of Disease Control and Environmental Health (P2PL) Ministry of Health, Prof. Dr. Tjandra Yoga Aditama, SpP (K), MARS, DTM & H.
In a review of the regional epidemic in Kulonprogo, Saturday (14/1/2012), Ministry of Health also handed over 200 pieces of mosquito nets, 200 pieces of malaria diagnosis tool called RDT (Rapid Diagnostic Test), and 350 insecticide.
"The Ministry of Health has three programs to combat malaria, the response to the person, penangulangan to mosquitoes, and the most difficult part is overcoming the environment," said Dr. Tjandra Yoga.
Dr. Tjandra Yoga also claimed salute alertness and cooperation so that as many as 43 people are diagnosed malaria cases can be handled well and did not cause casualties.
Geographically, the village Hargotirto, Kulonprogo the malaria epidemic areas directly adjacent to the Kabutapen Purwerejo Central Java. Hence Dr. Tjandra Yoga also asked the Chief Medical Officer of Central Java province to coordinate cross between two adjacent districts.
