Los Angeles, a man's sexual orientation can affect the risk for cancer.
The latest survey shows, people with cancer than among homosexual aka gay men more numerous than among heterosexual men.

The survey was conducted recently by Prof. Ulrike Boehmer of the Boston University, as part of a larger project that is the California Health Interview. Least 120,000 adults were included as respondents in the study.

One point question in the questionnaire which was distributed asking whether respondents had been diagnosed with cancer earlier. In addition, respondents were also asked to identify their sexual orientation is heterosexual or homosexual (same-sex enthusiasts).

Than 51,000 male respondents, 3700 of whom had been diagnosed with cancer. Quoted by Reuters on Monday (05.09.2011), comparison of homosexual men who had cancer that is 8 percent larger than heterosexual men are only about 5 percent of all male respondents.

While the female respondents, who had been diagnosed with cancer from 7300 the number reached 71,000 people. But the comparison is not affected by sexual orientation, because the heterosexual women and homosexual or lesbian women equal in number.

Prof. Boehmer said, this survey does not reveal the cause of differences in cancer risk in male homosexual and heterosexual. But he guessed, lifestyle factors and infections Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) influence the results of the survey.

For example linked smoking and drinking habits, gay or homosexual men are more prone to do it due to social pressure that makes it stressful. Also because of her social tend to be closed, gays have limited access to health services.

But it could also mean the opposite, namely gay many who had diagnosed the cancer as more diligently check their health. Prof. Boehmer acknowledges, more research is needed to conclude that gays are more prone to cancer.
