Jakarta, Be careful for the often mutually exchange partners or unsafe sex without protective equipment. If people with venereal diseases and HIV met in intimate relationships, the transmission can be very fast and more difficult to cure.

Disease experts
skin and venereal Dr. Farida Zubaier, SpKK (K) expressing the HIV / AIDS is a disease that can be infected through sexual intercourse. Along with it also affects the transmission of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) such as genital herpes and syphilis (syphilis).

"Diseases Sexually transmitted infections (STI) symptoms of ulcers (sores) on the genital (genital) are quite often found in people who are HIV positive. But for the exact numbers in Indonesia have not been there," said Dr. Farida in the seminar 'How to deal with HIV / AIDS 'in the hall of Faculty of medicine, Salemba, Jakarta, Saturday (06/12/2010).

Dr Farida said if someone has herpes or syphilis and then having sexual relations with people who are HIV positive, then the HIV virus will be easier and faster entry into the body of the people with venereal disease.

Conversely, if someone is HIV positive and then infected with venereal disease then treatment will be longer and also difficult to diagnose.

There are two sexually transmitted infections are common in HIV-positive patients, namely:

Genital herpes (genital herpes)

Genital herpes that occurs in people with HIV generally do not have typical symptoms. But the size of the ulcers (sores) that arise tend to be larger and deeper. Incidence of recurrence (appearance) also tend to be more frequent treatment that makes the process much longer than people who have genital herpes without HIV.

The disease is more spread through skin contact with patients. Generally the symptoms are arising as a pimple on the outside of the genitals that looks red and swollen. This virus can also infect other parts of the body like mouth.

Syphilis (syphilis Diseases)

People with HIV who have syphilis or syphilitic disease the symptoms are no different and does not show typical symptoms. Course of the disease is slower in the sense that the disease can persist long in the same stadium, and serology results may not correspond with staged.

"But often a person who experienced this condition is accompanied by abnormalities in the eyes," said the lecturer of the department division of sexually transmitted infections and genital skin FKUI / RSCM.

Dr. Farida advise HIV-positive patients who have syphilis check into the nerve, eye and hearing.

If found signs of the rash on the palms and itchy skin that is not suspect as syphilis.
